Greers Ferry Lake is home to the world record walleye and a number of state record fish.

During the winter you can catch huge walleye that spawn from late February to Mid March. Hybrids can be caught on lake 11 months out of the year and we are also known for our great crappie fishing.  This Lake can be challenging and anglers need to think outside the box at times, but the rewards are well worth it.

Sugar Loaf Mountain Island Adventure

The Upper Greers Ferry is not only for swimming! Sugar Loaf Mountain Island hiking trail being a short boat ride away.  Getting to Sugar Loaf Mountain is half the fun! The island is the result of a long erosional and weathering process. The rocks forming it are more than 300 million years old and the flat-topped surface serves as a protective cap for underlying softer shale and sandstone.

Once you reach the island, use the courtesy dock and take the foot trail to a large informational sign that provides a map and description of the island trails.  This relatively short trail is 1.6 miles roundtrip if you chose to go to the high point for panoramic views. Another trail circles the base of the mountain top. Along Arkansas’s first designated National Scenic Trail, you’ll see bluff formations and native flora and fauna. A series of wooden stairs at the southern end lead to the top for amazing vistas from 500 feet above the surface of the lake.
